Connecting London to thrive within the Doughnut
We want to create an interactive and accessible mapping platform that makes London’s Doughnut Economy visible and actionable. It brings together inspiring projects, businesses, and communities already supporting a thriving city, showing how they contribute across the four Doughnut lenses — social and ecological, local and global. By connecting what already exists, the platform helps uncover opportunities, grow networks, and shift how London understands and builds its future economy.
London is full of initiatives already enabling life within the Doughnut — but many remain unseen, disconnected, or isolated within silos. This invisibility limits collaboration, weakens impact, and leads to missed economic opportunities for a more resilient city.
The mapping platform responds by turning fragmented activity into shared knowledge. It shows where the city is thriving, where greater support is needed, and where new economic opportunities can emerge — helping residents, decision-makers, and investors understand how London can live well within the Doughnut.
Launched at LDEC’s Summer Social in September 2025, the project is being co-created with the community through a working prototype, driven by open-participation tools and ongoing collaboration. It is already building momentum — growing awareness of life within the Doughnut, strengthening networks across the city, and laying the foundations for a connected economy that uplifts people and planet.
